The Settings 1 tab contains general settings for FPOS, including Cash Media, Day Divide, default button sizes, and printed taxes.
Cash Media
The media (defined in Media Maintenance) that the system uses for cash
transactions.
Day Divide
The time the system uses to define the start/end of the day. This field will only allow the user to adjust the hour and
time division (AM or PM). Minutes cannot be adjusted.
Default Button Height
The default height applied to new buttons created in Button Maintenance.
Default Button Width
The default width applied to new buttons created in Button Maintenance.
Customer Department Masks
If a customer
count has not been entered manually, the Front End will increment
the customer count once for each item in the sale whose department
matches the mask. Department masks can contain the wild card characters * and ?.
Modifies the appearance of the keyboard layout on the Front End.
Alphabetic
Displays letters alphabetically followed by numbers and symbols.
Qwerty
Displays numbers, letters, and limited symbols/characters in QWERTY format.
Full Qwerty
Displays a standard QWERTY keyboard layout, including letters, numbers, and symbols/characters.
Adjust Customer Count When Adding/Removing Seats
Adjusts the customer count when adding or removing seats to a check. The Track Customers by Seat option must be enabled in Section/Table Maintenance > Edit Section Info.
Adjust Customer YTD and Customer Loyalty Report on Refunds
Subtracts refunded amounts from the Customer YTD (year-to-date) totals in Customer Maintenance, and the Customer Loyalty Report. For example, if a customer makes a $20.00 purchase, which is refunded on the Front End, the $20.00 will be removed from their YTD amount and the Customer Loyalty Report totals.
Allow Supervisor Override on Early Break Return
Allows an employee to return from a scheduled break early with a supervisor's override. This option requires breaks to be configured in Break Maintenance.
Allow User to Sell Items with Zero "Qty Avail"
When enabled, the user can sell an item whose Quantity Available has
reached "0". When disabled, the user will not be permitted to sell
the item. If an Alternate Item has been specified in Item Maintenance, it will be recommended in the "This Item is Not Available" dialog.
Apply Re-Opened Checks to Customer's Frequent Diner Totals
Applies the total of re-opened checks to a customer's Frequent Diner totals.
Auto Settle on Credit Card Swipe
Allows the user to swipe a credit card to automatically settle an active check on the Front End.
Automatically
Select Last Modifier Item
When enabled, the last modifier selected will automatically be selected
in the Receipt list box.
Don't
Allow Handheld Terminals to Run in Demo
Mode
When enabled, this option prevents handhelds from running
in Demo Mode.
This option also prevents the Front End from opening on the handheld device when Demo mode has been set, or the store's license has failed.
Don't Include Charge Tips When Reporting Employee Tips
This option excludes charge tips when reporting employee tips.
Don't Prompt for From/To When Issuing a Gift Certificate
Checking this option turns off the prompt requesting the user to enter From/To information when issuing a gift certificate.
Don't
Show Employee Sales Info When Entering Tips
When enabled, the user will be prompted to declare tips without seeing
any sales info. Otherwise the user is shown their sales since
last Clock In, recommended amount to declare, and tips already declared.
Don't Warn the User When the Customer Count is Greater than Nine
When enabled, the user will not be warned when the customer count is greater than nine. Force Entry of Customer Count must be enabled in Section/Table Maintenance > Edit Section Info in order to use this option.
Enable FollowMe
Allows the user to view the last open check from any terminal connected to the network, automatically retrieving the last sale active sale at sign on. This option restricts user sign on to one terminal by signing the user off any other terminals.
Enable Help Tips Pop-Up
Enables the Help Tips Pop-Up feature which displays tips for Back Office Maintenances, Reports, and Settings.
Force Unique Check Descriptions
Requires check descriptions to be unique when entered. If a duplicate check description is entered, a prompt is displayed to merge the two sales.
Hide Wallpaper When Signed On
When enabled, this option will prevent the wallpaper from displaying when a user is signed on to the Front End. The default bitmap background (textured gray) will be used when this option is selected.
House Retains Gratuities
When enabled, all gratuities collected will be retained by the house. When disabled, gratuities are considered tips and will show as tips paid to the employee who settled the check.
Log Activity Detail
Logs system changes to the database for Employee Maintenance, Item Maintenance, Sales Tax Maintenance, Media Maintenance, System Devices, and System Settings.
Open Tables is Default
Allows users to select any table, regardless
of their assigned section.
Reuse Check Number On Reopen
Allows a check number to be reused when reopening a check. If this option is not selected, a new check number is assigned to the sale when a check is reopened.
Save Employee Job Code Info for Each Sale
Allows the grouping of sales/labor by job code. This option is used in conjunction with the Labor vs Sales Report.
Supervisor Override Requires Fingerprint
When enabled, this option will require the supervisor to provide their fingerprint in order to allow an override.
User Can Enter a Customer Count of Zero
Enabling this option allows the user to enter a customer count of
"0" when a customer count is required.
Void Item Replaces Ingredient Inventory
When enabled, ingredients included in voided items will be re-added to the ingredient inventory count.
