Stand Alone Mode
Stand Alone Mode occurs when a terminal is unable to connect to either the server or backup server. Users can configure the software to automatically enter Stand Alone Mode when a connection is unavailable. The Front End Database Recovery Mode can be set globally in Settings 4 and per terminal in General Info 1.
Users can shorten the period of time that the system waits to attempt to return to Online Mode before entering Stand Alone Mode by adding the DBTestConnectionTimeout registry key. The default without registry entry is 240 seconds (4 minutes). See Adding the DBTestConnectionTimeout Registry Key (Stand Alone Mode) for more information on adding the DBTestConnectionTimeout registry key.
While in Stand Alone Mode
- Background on the Front End will read "Stand Alone Mode"
- Checks can be rung up and settled; however, check numbers will be generated from the local terminal
- Sales/orders can only be printed if the order printer or receipt printer is attached to the local terminal
- Credit cards will be authorized in Offline Credit Card Mode. Card/Sale info is saved and processed at a later time
- All printer rerouting defaults to the local printer, if one is configured
- Printer error messages are suppressed
- Front End is forced into Offline Credit Card Mode
