The FPOS software can function in several different modes. These modes allow the user to continue using the system when a connection problem exists between devices or for special circumstances, such as training new employees or performing a demo of the software. The point of sale modes available are listed below with short descriptions. To view more information about the individual mode, click the mode name.
POS Mode | Description | Front End Sign On Screen |
---|---|---|
Online Mode | This is considered "live" mode and has only the restrictions of the registered license (ie. Lite vs. Pro). | ![]() |
While in Offline Mode, a terminal cannot communicate with the server, but can communicate with the backup server. Users can configure the software to automatically enter Offline Mode when a connection is unavailable. This can be set globally in System Settings > Settings > Settings 4 > Front End Database Recovery Mode and per terminal in System Devices > Terminals > General Info 1 > Front End Database Recovery Mode. | ![]() |

Stand Alone Mode | Stand Alone Mode occurs when a terminal is unable to connect to either the server or backup server. Users can configure the software to automatically enter Stand Alone Mode when a connection is unavailable. This can be set globally in System Settings > Settings > Settings 4 > Front End Database Recovery Mode and per terminal in System Devices > Terminals > General Info 1 > Front End Database Recovery Mode. | ![]() |
Training Mode | Training Mode is most often used to train new employees on the Future POS Software or to try out new features without actually making changes that will effect the "live" version of Future POS. Users can toggle Training Mode from the Front End with the Toggle Training Mode button function. | ![]() |
Demo Mode | Demo Mode can be manually set from System Settings or will be entered automatically if a license error occurs. As of version 5.0.92.0, the demo images will no longer appear when the Set Demo License button is used in System Settings > Settings > Settings 2. The images will continue to appear if the system is in Demo Mode as a result of an invalid license. | ![]() ![]() |
