Coupon Maintenance allows the user to create coupons to apply to sales on the Front End. Coupons can be used to upcharge or discount a sale or items in a sale.
Coupon
The coupon drop down displays the Coupon Description and number.
Coupon Description
The Coupon Description field is used to enter a brief description of the coupon. The text entered in this field will be used in the Coupon drop down to identify the coupon.
Coupon Image
This is the print image that is printed on the receipt when a coupon is issued to fulfill a Frequent Diner Reward, see Frequent Diner Maintenance for more information. In addition to plain text, the print image can also contain Receipt Pseudo Variables.
Coupon Type
Percent Off Items
Allows the user to take a specified percentage off of each item. Enter a percentage in the % field.
Change Item's Price to Amount
Allows the user to define a new price for items by item name or prefix. You will need to enter the item's new price the Amount field below.
Subtract Amount From Item's Price
Allows the user to subtract a dollar amount from the entire check. You will need to enter a discount amount in the Amount field below.
Items to Apply
In the Items to Apply table, enter the item name or prefix (Ex: APP* for all Appetizers) to discount in the Item field. If you selected Change Item's Price to Amount or Subtract From Item's Price, enter a dollar amount in the Amount field. Items with a checkmark in the Req column must be present for the coupon to be applied.
- Entering -$1.00 in the Amount field will prevent the price from being changed. This can be used to create a Buy One Get One Free coupon. The first item would be entered as $0.00 and the second would be entered as -$1.00. Both items also need to have the Req check box selected.
Wildcard Characters
Wildcard Characters allow the user to select an item or group of items quickly based on the specified criteria.
*
The asterisk can be used as a substitute for any number of letters or numbers.
For example, BEE* found all items that started with BEE.
?
The question mark can be used as a substitute for 1 character.
For example, ???-potato will find all items starting with any three character department name that have potato as their description.
!
The exclamation point can be used as a negation wildcard. For example, !APP* would mean all items except items beginning with APP.
Coupon Subtracts from Taxable Total
This option will calculate taxes based on the discounted price.
Automatically Apply This Coupon to All New Sales
Checking this option will apply the selected coupon to all new sales on the Front End.
Coupon can only be Applied Exclusively
The selected coupon can not be applied in conjunction with any other coupon. If this option is selected, the user will not need to use the Apply Coupon button on the Front End.
Max Times Coupon Can Be Applied
This is the maximum number of times that the coupon can be applied to a sale. This value must be "1" or greater. To disable the Coupon, deselect the days of the week in the Coupon Availability section.
Coupon Availability
These settings allow the user to determine the dates, days, and times that the coupon can be used. By default, coupons are applied to the sale based on the check start time; however, users can enable he Save Sold Time Info for Each Sale Item option in System Settings > Settings 1 to apply coupons based on the sold time of the item.
Apply Options
Apply as many times as valid
This option will apply the coupon the number of times entered in the Max Times Coupon can be Applied field.
Apply as many times as applied
This option will allow the coupon to be applied up to the number of times entered in the Max Times Coupon can be Applied field.
Apply to Zero Price Items
This option allows the user to upcharge items.
Web Options
Coupon can be used online
This option allows the coupon to be used for Online Ordering .
Online Redemption Code
When the Coupon can be used online check box is checked, enter a coupon code to be input by customers to apply the coupon to an online order.
