Class Maintenance allows the user to configure class settings and privileges. In FPOS, all employees must be assigned a class prior to Signing On to the Front End. Classes are applied to groups of employees and control access to options and features including pay rate and period, clock in/out privileges, security settings, and a variety of other settings.
Class
The Class number and description. Empty slots can be used to create new classes, as needed.
Class Description
A unique description of the Class. For example, Servers.
Security
Allows the user to define Security options at a Class level for both Front End and Back Office features, including Reports, Interfaces, General Settings, and Utilities See Security for more information on configuring Security options.
Assignable Classes
Allows the user to define the type of employee records a given class is permitted to edit. See Assignable Classes for more information on configuring Assignable Classes.
Pay Period Ref Date
This is the beginning of the pay period and the date that will be referenced when determining the end of the pay period based on the Pay Period Length.
Pay Period Length
Select your preferred Pay Period Length. Choose from Weekly, Bi-Weekly, or Semi-Monthly.
Custom Period Starts (default 1st and 16th)
This option requires the user to select the Semi-Monthly option from the Pay Period Length drop down. The user can then enter the First Pay Period Start and Second Period Start dates in the control boxes.
Daily Overtime Threshold (Hours)
The number of hours an employee can work in a day before they will be paid the OT Rate as defined in Employee Maintenance.
Weekly Overtime Threshold (Hours)
The number of hours an employee can work in a week before they will be paid the OT Rate as defined in Employee Maintenance.
Meal Deduction Limit (Hours)
This option will deduct time for breaks and lunches based on the number of hours an employee works. For example, if an employee works 8 hours he/she is required to take a 30 minute break.Configuring the Meal Deduction Limit as 8 hours and the Meal Deduction Amount as 30 minutes will allow the system to automatically deduct the specified time for meals breaks.
Meal Deduction Amount (Min's)
The number of minutes that will be deducted from the employee's paid hours after the Meal Deduction Limit has been reached.
Employee can Punch In/Out Unscheduled
This option should be checked if scheduling and Scheduling Punch Rules are not going to be used. Selecting this allows the employees of this class Clock In or Out without being scheduled.
Print Employee Cashout Report at Clock Out
An Employee Cashout Report is automatically printed when this employee clocks out. Click the Employee Cashout Report Options button to configure the Employee Cashout Report settings.
Employee has Tips to Declare
The employee must declare tips before clocking out.
Exclude "To Go" Items from Tippable Total
Excludes the To Go sale totals from the amount expected to be declared by the employee at cash-out.
Emp Can Punch Out With Open Checks
Allows the employee to punch out with open checks.
If Another Employee's Check is Settled
This Employee is Responsible for the Money
The employee that settles the check is responsible for the money.
Employee Assigned to Check is Responsible
The employee who is assigned to the check is responsible for the money regardless of who settles the check.
This Employee owns the check
Only the employee assigned to the check, can settle the check. This employee is all responsible for the money.
Pay Type
Hourly
The employee is paid hourly. This option is selected by default.
Salary
The employee is paid a salary. Setting the Pay Type to Salary will clear payrates for all employees included in the selected class.
Scheduled Punch Rules:
Scheduled Punch Rules define employee rules for Clocking In and Out on the Front End. Employee schedules must be defined in Schedule Maintenance and the Employee can Punch In/Out Unscheduled option must be unchecked.
Early In Lockout (Min's)
The number of minutes early an employee can Clock In without a supervisor override.
Early Out Lockout (Min's)
The number of minutes early an employee can Clock Out without a supervisor override.
Early In Round (Min's)
The number of minutes an employee's punch will be rounded if they Clock In early, if inside the lockout period.Example:
Scheduled Start Time - 11:45
Early in Lockout -15
Early in Round - 15
If I clock in at 11:35
- The punch is scheduled because it is within the lockout period.
- The punch is rounded to 11:45 because I am within the rounding period.
If I clock in at 11:25
- The punch is unscheduled because it is outside of the lockout period.
- The punch is not rounded because it is an unscheduled clock in.
Early Out Grace (Min's)
The number of minutes early an employee can Clock Out. For example, if this option is set to 15 minutes and the employee is scheduled until 3 PM, they cannot Clock Out prior to 2:45 PM.
Early Out Dock Increment (Min's)
The number of minutes an employee will be docked for Clocking Out before the end of their scheduled shift.
Late In Lockout (Min's)
The number of minutes late an employee can Clock In without a supervisor override.
Late Out Lockout (Min's)
The number of minutes late an employee can Clock Out without a supervisor override.
Late Out Round (Min's)
The number of minutes an employee's punch will be rounded if they Clock Out late. For example, if this option is set to 15 minutes and the employee Clocks Out 20 minutes late, they will only be given credit for 15 minutes.

Late In Dock Increment (Min's)
The number of minutes an employee will be docked if they Clock In late.
