X-10 is a lighting system that communicates across 110 volt electrical lines to turn specified lights on or off. The X-10 equipment consists of 1 controller with a 9-pin RS-232 connector that will be attached to a Comm Port on the FPOS Server. Additionally, users will need a separate receiver for each light that will be controlled. Communication between the two devices is typically done over the existing AC wiring (outlets must all be in the same power phase). Users should set up the X-10 Lighting hardware before configuring the FPOS software.
Users will also need to Enable X-10 Lighting for each table that will be lit, as well as create an Activate X-10 Lights button function for use on the Front End. Verify that the X-10 Driver Module is running on the Server machine before attempting to activate X-10 Lighting from the Front End.
