Creating Multiple Screens of Multi-Column Modifiers

FPOS supports up to six columns of modifiers per screen using multi-column modifiers. Users can display multiple pages of these multi-column modifiers on the Front End. Sample images of multi-column modifier screens on the Front End are displayed below.

In order to create multiple pages of multi-column modifiers, user will first need to configure modifier items and modifier groups containing these modifier items. After configuring modifier items and groups, users will need to create a top-level modifier group which will contain multiple modifier groups instead of modifier items.

For this example, use Rare, Medium Rare, Medium, Medium Well, and Well Done as the Meat Temperature modifiers. Modifiers are displayed in the Modifier list box in alphabetical order. To custom order the modifiers, save them as CON/TMP/1/RARE, CON/TEMP/2/MEDRARE, etc.

  1. Open the Back Office.
  2. Click the Maintenance icon.
  3. Click Item Maintenance.
  4. Create a new item to use as the modifier group. For this example, create a Burger Temperature modifier.
    • Enter an Item Description. For example, Burger Temps.
    • Select a Department from the drop down. For this example, the Condiments department was selected.
    • Check the Item is Store Chargeable check box.
    • Check the Item is a Modifier check box.
    • Check the Follows Parent Item check box.
  5. Click the Edit Modifiers button.
  6. Enter a Modifier Description. The Modifier Description appears at the top of the modifier column on the Front End.
  7. Click the Add Modifier button.
  8. Select the modifiers to add to the modifier group. For this example, select the meat temperature modifiers, CON-TMP.
  9. Click the OK button.
  10. Configure the modifier options in the Edit Modifiers window.
  11. Click OK.
  12. In the Item Maintenance window, click File > Save.
  13. When the Save Item window appears, enter an Item name. For this example, enter XX-ENT/MEATTEMPS.

 

Create the remaining modifier groups for the Pittsburger. For this example, create four sandwich modifier groups:

  • A group containing condiments and toppings to be added: Mustard, Ketchup, Onion, etc. This modifier group will be named XX-SAN/1/WITH.
  • A group containing condiments and toppings not to be added: Mustard, Ketchup, Onion, etc. This modifier group will be named XX-SAN/2/WITHOUT.
  • A group containing sandwich additions: American Cheese, Egg, Pepperoni, etc. This modifier group will be named XX-SAN/3/ADD.
  • A group containing preparation instructions: Half, Quarter, Toasted, etc. This modifier group will be named XX-SAN/4/PREP.

  1. Open the Back Office.

  4. Create a new item to use as the top-level/containing modifier group. For this example, create an item named XX-SAN/4/W/WO/ADD.
    • Enter an Item Description. For example, Sandwich All Lists.
    • Select a Department from the drop down. For this example, the Condiments department was selected.
    • Check the Item is Store Chargeable check box.
    • Check the Item is a Modifier check box.
    • Check the Follows Parent Item check box.
  5. Click the Edit Modifiers button.
  6. Enter a Modifier Description. The Modifier Description appears at the top of the modifier column on the Front End.
  7. Select the modifiers to add to the modifier group. For this example, select the sandwich modifiers, XX-SAN.
  8. Click the OK button.
  9. Configure the modifier options in the Edit Modifiers window.
    • Check the Use Multi-Column Modifier Selection check box to display modifiers in multi-column format.
  10. Click OK.
  11. In the Item Maintenance window, click File > Save.
  12. When the Save Item window appears, enter an Item name. For this example, enter XX-SAN/4/W/WO/ADD.

  1. Open the Back Office.
  2. Click the Maintenance icon.
  3. Click Item Maintenance.
  4. Create a sandwich parent item.
    • Enter an Item Description. For example, Pittsburger.
    • Select a Department from the drop down. For this example, the Sandwich-Lunch department was selected.
    • Check the Item is Store Chargeable check box.
  5. Click the Edit Modifiers button.
  6. Enter a Modifier Description. The Modifier Description appears at the top of the modifier column on the Front End.
  7. Select the modifiers to add to the modifier group. For this example, select the meat temperatures modifier group, XX-ENT/MEATTEMPS, and the sandwich modifiers group, XX-SAN/4/W/WO/ADD.
  8. Click the OK button.
  9. Configure the modifier options in the Edit Modifiers window.
    • Check the User must select a minimum of X modifier(s) check box to force the user to enter a minimum number of modifiers. Enter a value in the minimum field.
    • Check the User can select a maximum of X modifier(s) check box to allow the user to select up to the maximum number of modifiers. Enter a value in the maximum field.
    • Check the Bypass "OK" when max modifiers selected check box to bypass tapping the OK button when the maximum number of modifiers selected has been met.
  10. Select the XX-ENT/MEATTEMPS modifier from the Modifiers list box and then click the Default Modifier button. Repeat this step for the XX-SAN/4/W/WO/ADD modifier, as well.
  11. Click OK.
  12. In the Item Maintenance window, click File > Save.
  13. When the Save Item window appears, enter an Item name. For this example, enter SAN-BURGER/PITTS.
